Look no further than one of my newest favorite genres, “Chillwave”. *Disclaimer: I have been having a ton of trouble with embedding Youtube videos lately so I have provided hyperlinks for the songs that don’t work. Hopefully I’ll see you this Summer at Firefly 2014. Well, that does it! I had an incredible time writing this blog this semester, since music truly is a passion of mine. Twenty One Pilots– If I didn’t see them last year they would be much higher. I have an ordering of twenty more bands/artists that I will just list for the sake of time and readability, but I could extensively talk about all of these groups.ģ0. This artist has a really unique, but awesome sound that I would love to experience in person.
Washed Out: Music festivals are a great opportunity to experience new music, and of all of the new groups that I have discovered as a result of this blog, Washed Out is probably my favorite. I’m never been an avid Weezer fan, but I respect them and definitely would like to see them live.ġ0. Weezer: Like Outkast, I want to go to Weezer to hear some of their many popular songs that I heard on the radio growing up.

If anyone knows how to put on a fun show, its this veteran duo, and I’m definitely looking forward to hearing some hits from my childhood.ĩ. Outkast: The soul/rap duo Outkast from the early 2000’s (you likely recall their hits “Hey Ya” and “Ms Jackson”) reunited to tour the major music festivals in America. The Mowglis: Another indie rock/folk (sorta) group, the Mowgli’s are probably the most upbeat group performing at Firefly 2014, and I know that I will definitely leave their show in a good mood.Ĩ.
They fall under one of my favorite genres, indie folk, and hopefully they do not again cancel their performance last minute like they did for Firefly 2013.ħ. The Lumineers: I have really liked this group since they hit the indie spotlight in 2012.
With steady, but edgy beats, they will be sure to keep the crowd engaged.Ħ. Stylistically, they have drastically changed over the years, but their latest album, “AM”, definitely holds some of Arctic Monkey’s best work. Arctic Monkeys: Like the Foo Fighters, the Arctic Monkeys are currently leaders in the rock industry. Not only is his music innovative and fun, but he apparently puts on a really cool (pretty) light show to awe his audience.ĥ. Pretty Lights: I have surprised myself by putting two EDM groups in the top five, but from what I’ve heard about Pretty Lights, I won’t be able to resist this show. Luckily for me, this EDM duo will be returning for another year, and they are certain to put on an absolutely insane show with their creative and musically depth mashups.Ĥ. White Panda: Probably my biggest regret of Firefly 2013 was not getting the opportunity to see White Panda perform. His catchy, but relaxing music will compliment our solemn moods perfectly, and I cannot wait to see this legend in person.ģ. Jack Johnson: Jack Johnson will be the last act at Firefly 2014, and I cannot think of a better artist to close out the weekend. I am a big fan of the work of their front-man, David Grohl, and the Foo will definitely put on a great show with their extensive amount of crowd-pleasers and awesome energy.Ģ. Foo Fighters: This band has been a staple in my music library for years. Therefore, I think it’s important for everyone to have a bit of a priority list before going to a festival, and I took that notion quite literally and put together a list of the acts that I want to see most, with the first being the group that I would skip any other group to see. The worst part about big music festivals is that participants will inevitably miss an act that they wanted to see because of scheduling conflicts. Anyway, I decided to do a bit of a wrap up post for my final entry, and I thought an appropriate way to do so was to make a priority list. I honestly cannot believe this is the last post of the semester - it’s so cliche but it feels like hardly any time has passed since I was trying to get adjusted to my new life at Penn State while thinking of my first semester passion blog topic.
